I'm running the newest Alchemy release on a WRT54GS and am having connectivity problems. The problems are not just for my wireless clients though.

On the wireless end, clients seem to lose connectivity breifly followed by inability to grab a new DHCP IP. Sometimes even setting one manually fails to resume connectivity.

I thought this may be due to a 2.4 ghz phone (i currently have a uniden 5.8) but i have no close neighbors with land lines. Then i started to notice the same connectivity drop for my wired client...

On a wired end, I notice a windows XP "Network connection extabilished" balloon. But it always seems to grab a new DHCP IP address.

I am running MAC Address filtering as well as WPA-PSK.

Both clients are Windows XP (fully updated).

This is really becoming a pain.... I'm wondering if the AP is just physically broken and maybe i should just return it for a fresh one. (bought at bestbuy so that would be easy).

If anyone has any suggestions or comments please post them.

    Thanks in advance.

    Zero config wireless...?

I have read in several places that XP's Zero configuration wireless can cause similar activity. I just upgraded my clients to SP2 last night and will see if that works. If not i'll disable zero config and setup the connection manually and see if that fixes the problem.

I don't seem to have any wireless connectivity problems in the same room as the AP, but i do 3 stories above (where there are other AP's visible at times...) I'm starting to this this is the problem.
