hey sorry couldn't find answers to these questions:

    1) in BASIC SETIONGS >> OUTBOUND RATE does changing the LIMIT to something like 50% cause the incoming bandwidth in that class to be limited to 50% as well?

I have a rule that puts a certain computer mac address with a 50% max upload bandwidth and for some reason they are only able to download with 50% of the maximum bandwidth.

I have BASIC SETTINGS >> INBOUND LIMIT all set to 100%.

I only with to cap the uplink bandwidth.

    2) What does incoming Layer 7 do? Does it add latency?

    Thanks everyone!

First off it is my opinion that you dont need QoS unless you have a specific need or issue that QoS will help resolve. Anytime you ad QoS you add latency because each and every packet needs to be inspected before it is sent out or recieved and sent to its host.

Setting outbound QoS does not effect inbound. Layer 7 is application layer traffic (ftp, telnet, http, smtp etc).

So "Inbound Layer 7" is inbound QoS? Inbound meaning in from the internet?
