Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think all he wants to do is setup an ftp server on his laptop, so he can access it from the internet using a domain name instead of an IP. I used to use filezilla-server as my ftp server running on my laptop and forward port 21 on my router. Then I registered my domain name with dyndns. That's should take care of what you want. I now used a NAS NSLU2 (comes with built-in FTP server) connected to my router and it works out great.

    I hope it helps

like sugrano63 said, if your looking to just get started, forward port 21 to the destination computer, otherwise get reading :thumb:
