Does anyone have the current memory specs for the wrt54gl router? Is anyone running the latest version with dd-wrt? Is there any problem with it or features that cant be used. Will the standard version od dd-wrt work on it?

I've got a WRT54GL v1.1 with dd-wrt v23sp1 and it indicates that the router has 16MB of RAM.

Thanks for the info. I just wanted to make sure nothing had been changed to impede the use of dd-wrt. I am currently running an older wrt54GS which has been incredible. Now its time for another, and I couldnt find any of the older GS versions in stores.

Im ordering the GL from amazon now.

    WRTG54GL v.1.1 w/v23-sp1 - no issues

Iv'e got the VPN build on a WRG54GL v1.1 and not having any problems. I have yet to run into something I can't do with it, that I could do with my old v4 unit   (cat knocked off desk into many many peices...)

Chiming in with experiences with the WRT54GL.

I have been having intermitent drop problems with the WT54GL with 3rd party firmwares AND linksys firmware. Tech support at Linksys suggested I use WEP instead of WPA encryption. Reason being that WPA re-shuffles every hour and this might cause wireless to disconnect.

I am linking to a thread that was just started to point frsutrated users to 1 place looking for an answer... if there is one. Hope this helps:

No dropouts with 2 WRT54GL's (ver 1.1) for me... the first one (gateway router) running the stock Linksys firmware, and the second one (in client bridge mode) running DD-WRT v23 SP1 Final. I am using WPA SPK security on these 2 routers and also on 2 WET54G (ver 3) wireless bridges.

The one problem I have encountered is that I need to reboot the gateway router (running the stock Linksys firmware) after heavy bittorrent use every 2 or 3 days but I already knew this. I will also be flashing it with DD-WRT to rectify this problem...
