My logs are filling up with DHCPINFORM & DHCPACK requests from my clients. one of my computers is really persistent in its requests. Requesting every hour. I know what these requests are but am not sure why they are happening so much. Can anyone explain. I am running tomato v1.13 on a Linksys wrt54gs.
    Thank you in advance.

I have these as well, windoze sends them out when it thinks its connection to the internet is broken. How/why it detects this I don't know, but try pulling the WAN cable out and watch! If its to do with the router sending out "icmp unreachable" then I think we can block them!

Ok it looks like XP systems on the network negotiate amongst themselves and send dhcpinform queries to obtain DNS & WINS information (whether you are running a wins server or not). This a a 'feature' of XP. I am assuming the only way to stop this is to prevent syslog from logging them? Does this sound feasible?

I don't see any info in the help as such:
you can always strip the logs with grep -v and/or kill the syslogd process and reset it to your liking.
