    I am wondering what this difference is between version 1 and version 1.1 of the wrt54gl. I have searched the site but have not found anything. Is there any performance gain or loss? Thanks for your help in this. I am new to all of this and am trying to learn.

    The only difference from what I've read is the 1.0 has a separate wireless card plugged into the main board whereas the 1.1 the wireless is embedded. No performance difference though!

    @Reiper, are you sure you're not thinking of the 1.0 version of the WRT54G rather than WRT54GL?

    From here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WRT54G

    WRT54GL version CPU speed RAM Flash memory S/N Prefix Notes
    1.0 200 MHz 16 MB 4 MB CL7A New model line, released after the version 5 WRT54G, which returns to a Linux-based internal OS as opposed to the v5's VxWorks firmware. NOT SpeedBooster enabled in stock state (third party firmwares however, like DD-WRT, will enable the SpeedBooster feature on this model, as it is hardware independent). Essentially the same as the WRT54G version 4.0, but with a new model number.

    1.1 200 MHz 16 MB 4 MB CL7B In this model they embedded the wireless card instead of using a miniPCI card as in the above mentioned WRT54GL version 1.0, other than that, no known major differences; however, in August 2006, this version was shipping with firmware revision 4.30.7, while the latest available firmware for the 1.0 version is 4.30.2.

    Thanks for the info. In looking around even more I also found this in the FAQ

    CL7A = WRT54GL v1.0 / BCM5352E Chipset / CPU 200Mhz
    CL7B = WRT54GL v1.1 / BCM5352EKPBG Chipset / CPU 200Mhz

    So there is a difference in the chipset as well. I went to Broadcom but they don't even list the chip. They only have the BCM5352EL. It is also interesting to note that (on the FAQ) the WRT54G v.4 and version 1 of the GL have the same chipset and starting with version 5 of the G/GS and version 1.1 of the GL they all have the same chipset. So, does anyone know the differences in the chipsets? Sorry for all the questions I am just curious:)

    Erroneous info in the Wiki (submitted correction). WRT54GL 1.0 never used a miniPCI radio. The WRT54G 1.0 did however. The WRT54GL 1.0 is indentical to the WRT54G 4.0 under the hood.
