I was running Tomato 1.27 on my GL for a while now and everything was fine. Last night I went to unplug it to reset it and when I plugged it back in, I noticed a small spark. It obtained an IP from my cable modem, but the DHCP lease was only set at 20s. After the 20s was up, it would disconnect and would not obtain an IP again. I would have to cycle my modem, only for it to disconnect again after 20s. I cleared the NVRAM with no resolve. I reflashed to the stock Linksys firmware and it works fine. Flashed back to Tomato, cleared NVRAM again, only to have the same problem. Any ideas?

I had a similar problem with DHCP renewing with the official 1.27, see here:

The resolution for me was to use Teddy Bear mod which uses a newer version of busybox and has some extra tweaks for DHCP. It doesn't have the DHCP renew problem that official 1.27 has for me.

Alternatively you could try the beta official 1.28 from the Tomato sourceforge site.

What I thought was strange was the fact that it was working great until that spark. I hope it didn't do any damage. I'll give 1.28 beta a try and report back. Thanks

I think that's about totally different problem. So far nobody else reported the exact same issue, and the guy from myopenrouter never tried the latest beta07 anyway...

So I upgraded to 1.28 beta and it was working sporadically. I ended up replacing it with another GL and now its working great. Thanks guys.

Was the GL faulty? You can probably still use it as an AP !

Not really sure if it was faulty or not. 1.28 worked, then I tried 1.27 again and that didn't work. Then I flashed back to 1.28 and it didn't work. Then I flashed to stock and it worked. But now with my replacement router it works with 1.27. Strangest thing. I already have another GL as an AP. I'll just keep this one as a backup.
