Dynamic hostname resolution on WRT54G

I have an all wireless network consisting of computers running Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X. I can see in the DHCP client list that the router is aware of the hostnames of all of my boxes but what I can't do is, for example, logon to box a and ping box b by its hostname, I have to use the dynamically assigned IP address of box b.

So this is somewhat of an annoyance for me than anything because I don't feel like I should have to know the IP addresses assigned to all of my computers on my network in order to access them. The only solution I know of is impractical (putting the IP addresses of each box in all of the other computers' host files) because the IP addresses could change on me.

Does anyone have any pointers on how I might be able to get this working ? Any suggestions at all will be appreciated.
