I am currently running HyperWRT Thibor build 13 on GSv4 and 13c on GSv3. The GSv4 router has been up over 8 days but has not "touched" the DYNDNS record. I will be upgrading this router to 13c soon, but could not find a definitive answer: Does HyperWRT update the DYNDNS record before the 35 day account deletion deadline? My ISP typically renews the lease with the same IP address for months at a time, so the record needs periodic updating. I used to use DD-WRT and it would update the DYNDNS record every 7 days, even if it did not change. Does HYPERWRT have a fixed interval of updates or does it only update on an IP change? If it does not have a scheduled update, is there a way to force an update at a fixed interval (ie every 7 days) with a startup script?

Other posts in the forum lead me to believe that the update does not occur periodically, at least in the older versions.

i don't think it updates on a schedule if the ip doesn't change. i'll look into adding this into Hyperwrt

nice catch. i had the same ip for over 2 years on mine and only recently changed 2 times in the last few months. this support would be very welcome from me too.

Thibor - If you can add DYNDNS periodic auto updates, that would be great.

13C is great firmware. Thanks for your EXCELLENT work!

You should check with dyndns.org for their standards and requirements. I think they specify that periodic updates should occur at 28 day intervals.

confirmed, updates if the IP hasn't changed have to be done in 28 day intervals, less is considered abuse of service. i'll change it to 28 days

and in the other side can you integrate an update button ,in order to update the dyndns when you want ? ;)

no, i don't think that's necessary. if the ip has changed it will update itself, if the ip hasn't changed it will update after 28 days

    Thibor -

Great!! Thanks for working the DYNDNS fix into the upcoming firmware - good idea to change to 28 day update cycle.

    Brugar -

Although DYNDNS notes that updates more frequently than 28 days are cosidered abusive, I never had issues with the 7 day update interval when I ran DD-WRT, not to say they would not start enforcing that policy in the future.
