Expanding Wireless Coverage

    I have two ASUS RT-N16 routers running Tomato Firmware v1.28.9054 MIPSR2-beta K26 USB vpn3.6 and I currently have the two routers connected through wire (gigabit connection).

    I would like to have both wireless routers be access points and share the same SSID if possible, so when an user go outside the area covered by the router A, but within router B's coverage, the user will not be disconnected or have the need to reconnect (even if it's done automatically by the computer). Is this possible?

    Use same SSID on both but different channel 1-6-11 and same phassphrase and same Security settings.
    Then your client automatic change between these two routers.

    Thanks, I'll give that a try. Wouldn't the existing connection still be disconnected when switching to the other AP/router?

    Client choose the stronges signal, roaming between the two routers.

    One of the problems with "roaming" is that many wireles cards do not actually connect to the strongest AP's. Quite a few seem to delight in connecting to the weakest one they can find. If you find that to be the case, knowing this may be useful. See link below.

    No disconnections should occur, the cleint is still connected to the router and retains it's own IP and all current connections, it just changes the access point - a different issue. Changeover is supposed to be fast enough that no problems are caused.

    I have tested with laptop with Atheros 5007 card buld in. In that case roaming working.
