If you experienced problems sending out mail and have just upgraded your LynkSys firmware so that you could fully "STEALTH" the IDENT port 113 on your network, than here is the solution. Disable the IDENT port 113 feature in the "Advanced" configuration tab of your BEFSR41 v1.x/v2.0/BEFSR11/BEFSRU31 firmaware v.1.46.02 8/3/2004.

The problem is that "Filter" feature does not seem to work on Sympatico's silly server which absolutely has to issue an unsolicited IDENT request in order to allow the SMTP session to occur.

Anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this issue?

I have just spent a day on finding this problem which was further compounded by the fact that Norton AntiVirus 2005's email filter prevented Outlook's error message from popping up. (Plus the email which was not sent was placed in the sent box.) Turning off Norton completely (after a reboot) allowed the error to surface and the message was also left in the outbox (finally).

It would be nice to shut the door on IDENT Port 113, Sympatico/LynkSys/Norton anyone out there listening?
