I am familiar with upgrading the firmware using the standard Linksys versions. one of the features of the Linksys upgrade is that all of your stored settings/ password / SSID info remains. Will I have to start from scratch once I load HyperWRT firmware?

it is best too simply as there are new nvram settings in Thibor15c than the default linksys one.

the settings should remain, but you may get incompatabilities and problems later on.

it is better to clear the nvram and factory reset the router once the firmware upgrade has taken place.

How about when upgrading from 15b to 15c?

If you're upgrading from the same firmware set, typically not resetting the NVRAM won't hurt.

But resetting it won't hurt either, and I prefer to do that, even if it means me spending five minutes setting back up.
