First, I apologize for my recent absence in the forums, I have had family issues to deal with, but I am back to my second family -

But, being one of the parents of the family, sometimes there has to be tough love to get a point across. No matter what anyone has said happened between us and Sveasoft, most of it is wrong anyway, we will continue to maintain our position on inappropriate software distribution.

Freeman is, as I understand it, a hack of Sveasoft Talisman that removes the MAC address restriction, and changes some visual aspects including the logo to emphasize the distro's point of view on Sveasoft. While I most certainly believe that anyone has the right to modify and redistribute the code to a GPL project under the same license, Talisman was not released under GPL. Further more I equate this release to no more than hacking out the installation key requirement of a program like Photoshop and plastered 'Hacked by n00b RulZ j00' in the About box.

As always has been the position of we will not tolerate links to pirated software or offers to provide them. If you do participate in this process, you will receive one warning then upon a second violation, you will be removed. Keep in mind this is for distribution only, including links.

If you do choose to use this method of obtaining Talisman, whether it be original or the hacked form, I cannot keep you from discussing support issues or how to use it in our Sveasoft forum, but please, don't let on that you are using hacked form. We cannot be a haven for questionable activity. has always maintained that it will be a positive atmosphere in which to discuss and support all firmware releases and all products. We will continue to do and hope that you understand this decision. I personally cannot go through the toil and torment we experienced trying to fight for DD-WRT's right to exist in the face of Sveasoft again in trying to maintain our good reputation while members distribute warez.

Thank you for your continued support and help given to other users!

Its your site and I respect your point of view but by that logic you'd have to ban DD-WRT distribution as well.
As you may know, DD-WRT was based of a Alchemy version that was never officially released under GPL. My point is: just because Sveasoft says somethings isn't under GPL doesn't mean it is under their license.
Anyways, people will still find Freeman if they can use Google or ed2k and this way you're covered against Sveasofts legal threats. I just wanted to point out that this isn't the same as a pirated copy of Photoshop since 99% of the software is GPL-based. It's more like making a keygen for GSView when you could just recompile it with --nonagscreen.

Okay, this thread was supposed to be locked and simply put up as an announcement. Quit using this thread to bicker. I am moving all other posts to another thread.

DD-WRT is certainly based on Alchemy, sure, but it is a completely different animal that is constantly being developed as a branch with available code rather than just a cracked version of Talisman.

If people want to find Freeman, thats fine with me, its up to them to find and use it. I cannot stop anyone from pirating software, but I will not tolerate links to it or discussion about that piracy. Since it is just Talisman with no functional changes, if you are going to discuss and use it, please just refer to it in posts as Talisman.

    End of discussion.
