I really have a strange thing going on right here. I have a desktop computer and a laptop both using Windows XP Pro and both connected to a WRT54G v2.0 . The laptop is connected to the router using WiFi.

Whenever I try to transfer something from a windows share on my desktop computer to my laptop, the transfer goes slow and unstable. Speeds vary from 15%-30% ( of 54Mbps ) rapidly. When I enable my FTP-server on the desktop computer and transfer a file to my laptop, the speed is stable and about 50% ( of 54 Mbps ) which means 27 Mbps. This speed is more acceptable.

After transfering something from the FTP, I go back to the Windows Share and suddenly the transfer goes just as fast and smooth as it went from the FTP. I really have no idea why this is.

    Does anyone got a clue?

Ps. These problems are firmware independent, since I have reproduced them using various firmware releases of different groups.
