What's the Pro/Cons about using TFTP to do your firmware upgrades?

I bricked mine yesterday and recovered it with TFTP. Personally it seems to be quicker and easier to TFTP than upgrading with the HTTP interface...any reason why I shouldn't use TFTP to upgrade firmware?

Is there a safe method to upgrade the firmware to be able to recover safely? I think I remember seeing a link about the NVRAM commit when upgrading but can't find where...

You should read the Readme.htm included with the downloaded firmware bin file. It states:

Other than pros/cons, chose whatever you feel comfortable with. :)

Just to make it clear for me....

Bootloader's TFTP works in the first 5 seconds of startup (default setting)

I read somewhere that powering up while pressing the reset button for 5 seconds will set the unit up for TFTP - fact or fiction?

I'm not sure what "Linksys' password protected TFTP upgrade" is - when does it apply? During regular WRT operation with or without Tomato?
