Going crazy... No AP client option, and telnet won't work

Hi. I have a WRT54g v4 that I'm trying to set up as an AP client. I installed Tofu's newest HyperWRT firmware, which installed just fine. However, in the Wireless::Basic settings, there is no drop-down to select "Client" mode, as I expected. How do I get this to appear, since I thought it was supposed to part of the standard HyperWRT feature set, and it's obviously what I want for setting up an AP client. Also, I cannot telnet to the router, even though it is fully pingable. Any ideas what is going on there?

I suspect there is something simple I missed, but I am at my wit's end at this point. Thanks for any suggestions.
