I'm in need of advise !

I'm going to setup a VPN between to sites with dynamic IPs (DSL). Which would be the best option for the security gateway type? Dynamic IP + FQDN ? Using

Forgot to add, that I will use to RV082.

You can use something like and set the VPN to use a FQDN but it really is no substitute for a static IP.

Do not use the FQDN setting, it will not work right.

Just use the IP Only setting, and then change the IP address field to Resolved by DNS (just under the option to choose IP Only, and only on Firmware newer than 1.3.1 or so).

Then you can type in the domain name you want to resolve to an IP.

If you use IP + FQDN then it will attempt to use the FQDN in the authorization of the VPN tunnel and cause it to fail. Yelled at Indian Linksys Support Reps for 2 months before someone got back to me stating that it would be in the next Firmware Revision :-P)

    Hope that helps!
