Hallelujah - Broadcom and RT-N16 see the GPL light?

    I think that some of those posters got overly excited for nothing...

    Yes, the new Asus source doesn't contain binary blobs... But try to compile it. It will fail very quickly.
    The kernel code hasn't changed at all and is still expecting those blobs.

    It justs seems that Asus isn't shipping them anymore. Note that the code is now GPLed. the wl drivers source is still not included. wplconf is still not provided etc...

    Having said that, that Asus doesn't provide the blob anymore doesn't mean much, I've found that over time, they sometimes included the source code of some stuff usually not provided, sometimes it's missing pieces etc...

    OK, new broadcom driver would be good... but is ot possible?

    New drivers can be added easily once they become available. The issue is more for openwrt folks that only use GPLed code
