    Hi all,

I have a problem, which might not be linked with tomato directly, all through I use tomato and its great.

Anyway, I have a Lenovo T61, tomato, wifi, utp capability and I have got a problem- I can't use Voice in few programs which use ports for them, I can't receive voice in them as well. In uTorrent I have got the red ring for most of the time, or yellow triangle.

I have UPnp enabled in router, and in WIn XP services it is running.

mm, I have 2 ISP's to choose from and two different routers with more client on them as well.

All stations, wifi and Utp connected are working excellent, green ring in UTorrent, Voice is transmitted perfectly.

But in my laptop I have got problems with it...

Any ideas how to check PC Network and other configuration... diagnose the problem?

    Thank you,

I'd expect you have a firewall issue on the laptop.

What exactly is the problem? You didn't actually say. Does the laptop get a proper IP, can it ping other LAN computers and the gateway OK? Does it have any internet connectivity? Do ports get opened either by UPnP/NAT-PMP, or do you forward them manually?

Internet works fine.. I can open pages, download files from www addresses. I can Ping other machines in cmd. IP is Dynamic..192.168.1... Ports are handled by Upnp so they should open automatically.

All applications such like skype, utorrent, EuroScope are slowed down and dont work properly. Voice gets cut off after few seconds, but most of the time others dont hear me at all or I dont hear them.

I have symantec av, not sure about firewalll.. Does av comes packed with Firewall? how can I add exceptions for these programs in Symantec?

I have same Symantec av on Desktop PC on the same router, but everything works just fine on it.

damn router, I have no incoming connections:

what can I do about it?

I dont want to use Qos, when it was on I had green button in uTorrent, now with it off I have no incoming conn.
Qos drastically decreased ping time and speed overt the web... so I turned it off. Settings were from speedtest.com

QOS has no effect whatsoever on port forwarding.

Ok, prot frwd is solved, forwarded whole range from 1024-60000 for UTorrent.

Is there a manual on how to set up tomato for normal use?

Normally outbound traffic is permitted, so I imagine you forward all ports from the WAN to your windows machine running utorrent?
I suggest you read Wikipedia on port-forwarding

We're here to help you, but you have to tell us what you'd like to accomplish. Define "normal use".

So it's not a general connectivity issue. You say that other machines work as expected, so the issue is software or your laptop itself. Is the windows firewall enabled? Read about it on wikipedia.

Again, what do you try to accomplish?

Yes, I forwarded ports 1024-60000 to IP and Now torrent work excellent. Ok, this is solved simply.
UPnp didn't manage to open ports previously.. But after I amnually frwd them it works fine.

A Manual/tutorial on how to set up a tomato for normal home use. What settings should be on/off, what should be configured and etc.

My ISP installed a UTP CAT5 Ethernet Twisted pair cable for my PC. No modem. Direct to ISP Router, through RRLine and some repeaters(maybe). So I have a static IP, static NIC MAC and that's it. 20Mbps Downlink, 3Mbps Uplink.

How to configure Tomato for maximum performance?

So far I have cloned MAC, have static IP in router, Qos is OFF, UPnp on. Port frwd On.

Yes, It has something to do with laptop SW. Win Firewall is off, Symantec Client FW in ON (uTorrent shows Red icon), when I disable it uTorrent show Yellow Triangle. I guess it has some to do with Symantec...How can I allow programs to use ports in Symantec?

I'll try to make a comparison, perhaps it helps you to understand what you did:
You painted a big aim on your back, together with the word: Shoot me.
So please don't wonder if you get shot.
Inform yourself what torrent is and how it works, you only need to forward a single port to your internal IP. Read your torrent software's manual, google, ask friends.

I'd ask Symantec, have you called them?
