My wrt54g router was running the latest firmware from linksys, version 4.something.

Then I decided to flash with dd wrt and in the end, I find that there are two firmwares residing on the router which won't connect to internet.

The old linksys firmware is version 1.45 I think. Sometimes I get the linksys 1.45 firmware screen when I point my browser to and sometimes I get the dd wrt screen.

Has anyone seen that before ?

Thank all for the fedback. I did the reset (30 s) and everything and installed the mini generic first before flashing the dd std wrt 54g sucessfully.

    Any feedback is well appreciated.

I see where you're coming from, except that before flashing, I never saw firmware linksys 1.45 screen . The firmware that I saw before was linksys 4.something. After the flash, I had two new firmware show up : the linksys 1.45 and the dd wrt. How do u explain that ? Their screens are both different from the linksys 4.something ....

You cant have 2 firmwares on the same unit.

Your wrt has one flash memory with capacity for just "1" firmware. Upgrading/changing firmware overwrites the older firmware.

I finally figured out the issue. I was probably accessing the firmware of another router since I was using my wireless laptop to access the firmware. Mine is dd wrt and although I can access the dd wrt setup screen, I still cannot make the internet work. I checked the dnsMaq and I still cannot get an ip address. What's wrong here ?

    Did I forget a step somewhere ?

I forgot to mention that I installed the DD-WRT v23 beta2 Dec 16 build. Did I choose the right build ?

I see that ppl are mentioning about doing an nvram erase through commands, how do u issue commands to do that erase ?

    Thanks agin.
