Help me get WDS working, please.

I've got two wrt54g v6. I've flashed both of them with the most recent version of dd-wrt micro according to the tutorial, and they both flashed successfully. I strictly followed every instruction of getting these two routers into wds mode with respect to wireless, dhcp, security setting, etc. etc. However wds is not working. On router 1, which is the one connected to my satellite internet service, I cannot see the other router at all. On router 2, router one does show up in the wds status area, but with zero reception. I'm at my wits end and would appreciate any guidance. I can see the other router when I do a site survey but I am not interested in a client bridge. Pings get no response. I'm out of my element.

After hours of frustration I posted the message above. Literally 5 minutes after that post I discovered that somehow I had accidentally had the WDS setting on one of the routers set to "disabled" instead of "LAN". It was hard to spot as the MAC address and everything was still there and in bold. It now seems to work quite well. I tell you, when a feature requires the exact harmony of a million little settings in a million different menus, thank God I didn't make a career out of this sort of thing.
