Hi all just found your site after a few hrs of reading and checking links  I hope you guys might be able to help me:confused: I am looking to get a new cable router as I have just moved over from ADSL to cable. I have read that the Linksys is the way to go? I mainly play online games and do a bit of downloading. There will be 3 PC's on the network and a soon to be added 4 on wireless.

I am very confused as to which Linksys to go for? Then there are good model versions to have........ sigh  Anyways I think the model I need is the Linksys WRT54GS? what version I havnt a clue?

I have seen one of these for sale second hand with the serial number CGN10D782088 not sure if this is a good version or not or does it matter? Any help would be great guys

Thanks for the reply guys  So it looks like its the WRT54GL due to it being still available? I thought the GS was a better model  What version are they up to( WRT54GL)?

Overclockers in the UK have them for sale. Can I just buy this anywhere without having to worry about which version they are? Also are the WRTSL54GS v1 available still or they just hard to come by.

I don't think the SL is available in the UK yet (that's what I've been reading, I may be wrong).

Hi Slam do you mean the GL or is there a model called SL, I'm so confused  The one I was looking to buy was from this site in the UK >>Overclockers UK<< I was also looking to buy this one off Ebay >>Ebay USA<<

No, the GL should be available in the UK (WRT54GL). I was speaking of the SL (WRTSL54GS) that Toxic mentioned as being 'the best' (and I would agree). This router has more memory, a faster processor and a USB port for simple network sharing via the router. I'm not sure that the SL is available in the UK, although I could be wrong.
