Hi. I bought a WRV200 a few days ago... so far I have put two days into trying to get the VPN working.... with no luck.

Honestly, I don't know what the hell I'm doing and have been reading posts (here and other places) and using google to try to track down a step by step solution.

I think my setup should be the easiest out there, nothing special. My Lan behind the WRV200 and computers out on the internet to be able to connect via the QuickVPN client (or another if it is free).

Something tells me this will take someone that knows what they are doing about 5 minutes. So far I have invested probably 10 hours.

Would someone be willing to chat and walk me through the set up or I would be willing to enable remote administration on the router (so you can see if I have hosed up anything).

Thanks for your help. I'm really in need of some guidance.

    no i havent

I haven't watched it... but will certainly this evening if you think it might help.

I thought that was to connect two VPN/routers together. I only have one in my set up. The computers coming in will just be using some client (QuickVPN).

If the WRV200 side of the set up is the same in both cases this might be what I need.

If all you need to do is just set up quickvpn, then that should just take a moment. Just go to the vpn directory and "fill in the blanks." Make sure you don't put spaces in between the usernames because it confuses the router.

    still no dice

yah... I thought it should be easy too, but I'm not having any luck. Would you be willing to take a peek at my settings or try to connect? I'm not sure if I have hosed something up on my side or if the people trying to come in aren't doing something correctly.

The closest I have gotten to it working is getting to the "Verifying Network" set in QuickVPN and then it just hangs. On the router it says I'm connected.. but I can't ping anything computers on the network.

Your help would be much appreciated.

If you like, I could make you a new title graphic for your forum or something in return (I'm a front end developer/graphic designer).

    Thanks guys

Need to know more info to help further. Is your QuickVPN client runs on XP or Vista? Does your PC have public ip address or a private ip address? Which WRV200 firmware are you using now?

    The VPN firmware version is

    I'm running XP.

The PC is a laptop and I would like to be able to connect from different places (starbucks) or at home on my network.

    Same problem with RV042

Using comcast as ISP at client site. Had 443 and 500 opened up and now my notebook (the reference) and connect. It seems to drop off the net a lot though. The other systems hang on the verifying network prompt. These systems are a mix if XP Home SP2 and XP for Tablet 2005 SP2. I have used client 1.2.5 and 1.0.1 without success. IPsec was disabled in the system and I enabled that. The XP Home did not work but one of the Tablet systems made a connection for about 3 minutes before being kicked off.

Can this really be this difficult? I have set up many 042s and not had these kinds of problems. Now looking at the myriad of posts maybe I was just lucky. I appreciate any help you guys may be able to offer.
