I used dd-wrt a couple of years ago with no problems. somewhere along the way I switched back to sveasoft (yeah yeah I know).

When I first used dd-wrt I was using dsl/pppoe. When I was using sveasoft I was using cable with auto configuration dhcp. I switched back to att dsl 6.0 and the sveasoft talisman would not work with pppoe but with auto config dhcp. Never cared to question why but it worked.

I just switched back to dd-wrt v23. I cannot get connected to the internet. Linksys v2 routers.
I also use vonage for a business line and here is the issue. auto config with dhcp is close. Vonage will connect but I cannot get on the internet. pppoe is a no go with vonage or the internet.

    Anyone have any possible solutions???

Allow me to answer my own question. I did it the right way by going to the dd-wrt homepage and researching their forum.

    And the answer is..........

I have 3 linksys wrt54g v2 routers. I am using bellsouth/att 6.0 extreme dsl and the included westell 6100 modem/router for my internet connection. The fact that the westell is a router itself will make you nuts because its dhcp will conflict with the linksys and cause problems issuing ip addresses.

    1. turn off/power down the westell.
    2. on the wrt use, instead of pppoe, dhcp auto config.
    3. change the sub domain on the wrt so the ip address is and save the changes.
    4. power off the wrt once it is done rebooting and the changes have taken effect.
    5. power on the westell and wait for boot completion.
    6. power on the wrt.
    7. log onto the westell
    8. click on the network setup icon on the top of the page and from the side menu choose ip passthrough.
    9. on the ip list choose your wrt's ip and select it for the passthrough. modem will reboot with new settings.
    10. Done.

This will work for all custom firmwares when using a wrt54g/gs in combination with a westell 6100 modem/router.
