Help with my QoS settings

Just installed Tomato 2 days ago and wow, what a step up from DD-WRT that I was using. With DD-WRT I always got wireless issues and the QoS settings had 0 effect.

Tomato on the other hand has been awesome. Few questions though. I want to prioritise traffic to my xbox360. Rather than use IPP2P or L7, which can be CPU intensive, I'd rather just use the Xbox's IP to priortise traffic to it. The 360 has a static lease on So I've setup a QoS rule that all traffic from 'Src IP" is Highest.

Is that correct? Or should it be "Dst IP" or setup two rules for Dst and Src? Or is it better to use the MAC code? Basically I want all traffic to the 360 to be highest.

    Thanks for any help :)

I set my son's XBox 360 IP address to be highest priority and he's had no complaints. We haven't tried any massive download while he's playing, but it's configured the same as my VoIP device (Vonage) and I know that's working properly.

To test, watch your connections before and during an Xbox Live session. You should see the XBox 360's connections catagorized as Highest.

Great, thanks for confirming it works. Just the easiest thing to do I think rather than IPP2P or L7, which a) may not catch everything b) take up CPU cycles. This method would mean even game updates, or video downloads etc. would get high priority.
