well first of all i would like to say hi :D

    first post.

well here is the problem, i have a wrt54g ver7.........god damn ver7 no 3rd party firmware

anyway the wireless network it produces is very unpredictable. sometimes i get full signal down stairs and sometimes i cant even connect. also there is another problem that sometimes disconnects me from the Internet. I will click on a link and all my lights will go out and then come back on and then about 5 seconds later it will work.

would be really nice if i could get some help with this :D

I am a network administrator at a small academic institution, and I have had the same problem for over a year with two routers, a WRT54G v2.2 and a WRT54GS. I tried changing channels and just about every option I could think of. Still the same results. Random disconnects and sometimes it wasn't even possible to connect to the WLAN at all. Used the routers without DHCP which the W2K server handles. I use the linksys only as access point, since I have a ZyXEL ZyWALL 5 for the LAN.

Now, I sold the WRT54GS, and was just about to sell the WRT54G v.2.2 when i figured, why not try one of the third-party firmwares. Now I'm running Thibor 15c on the WRT54G with the signal strenght set to 100%, and the wireless connection is rock-stable. I'm very surprised by this, but so far it seems to work, and I guess I will buy an old WRT54G router and flash the Thibor firmware onto that one to have 100% coverage in the buiding.

I guess what I'm saying is that in my experience the stock linksys products aren't very stable, so I'm not sure if you will be able to solve your problem.
