I've heard there is a way for you to put entries into your router so that you don't have to try to maintain a host file for every machine on your internal network. Is this what "dnsmasq" is about? I tried to do put something like the following in the Dnsmaq Custom configuration of the router: mail1

but it didn't work. I don't use the router as my DNS Server. So every machine receive the real DNS sever IPs not the IP of the router. Is this why its not working? If so is there any way to get it to work without having the router as the DNS entry for every machine?

Static DHCP, leave the MAC address alone (as 00:00...), set the IP and hostname of the DNS entry you'd like to create as desired.
