How do I make the WRT54gs a wireless Bridge ?

I bought a WRT54gs this week, and would like to have the WRT54gs connect wirelessly to a network and attached to a computer using a LAN RJ45 Cat 5 cable installed to one of the ports on the router, without using the wired internet jack on the back of the WRT54gs, or use it wirelessly too to extend my range.

Is there a particular software to help me do this or is there a hardware change necessary too? There are many folks who say they can modify the unit to perform this function, but don't describe how to do it.

    Your help is appreciated.

you will need to use one of the Third-party firmwares for your router, such as dd-wrt or hyperwrt
