    Hello there,

I’ve read that NSLU2 main processor is a Intel IXP420 rated for 266MHz but with is downclocked to 133 MHz by Linksys. There is a hardware modification to de-underclock the CPU to 266 MHz. It is explained in this article (I’m sure you already know it). Unfortunately, This mod voids NSLU2's warranty!

According to is the article, the CPU included in the NSLU2 manufactured after May 2006 runs at full speed (266 MHz).

Is there a way to know when a NLSU2 was manufactured when it’s still in its box in the store ? May be with the serial number (if it is written on the box) ?

    Any clue ?

    Thank you

Thank you for your help. But I need to know if the CPU runs at 266 Mhz without unpack the NSLU2 from its sealed box in the retail store (before buy it).

Is there changes in the serial number like WRT54G / WRT54GS ( acording to this topic) ?

    Thank you

Sorry I cannot answer your Q, but on examining my NSLU2, its running at 266 straight from the shop. I bought this off a few weeks back

    Thank you Steve.

When your NSLU2 has been manufactured (I think it is printed close to the Serial Number) ?

    Thanks again
