I am trying to install YAMon3 in order to monitor individual usage.
I need to install this in the /opt folder.
However, when I try to upload and create subfolders, I get - permission denied, read only....
I am logged in as root.
    chmod doesn't work

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Did you miss the "... and have mounted a USB drive (preferably with ext4 file system) to /opt/" part of the instructions? It's easy to overlook. Strongly recommend a USB flash drive rather than a USB HDD.

Did you set this up already? If so, how did you set up /opt? What filesystem type did you use? Etc...

    Thanks for the advice.
I just activated the jffs and made a folder in jffs, called Opt and installed it there.
    Up and running 100%
So for all that is interested, just download the file of YAMon3, copy it to /jffs/Opt/ and run. Remember to set permissions chmod 775 Then just use WinSCP and run the file.

I trust this will help others as well, who don't want to install it on an external USB.

I am running Shibby 140 VPN build on Linksys EA6700.

Be careful about writing a lot of data to jffs. If you wear out the flash it could lead to dire consequences for your router. USB drives can be easily and cheaply replaced, replacing your flash requires breaking open the router, extracting the motherboard, desoldering the old chip, soldering on a new one, soldering connections for JTAG, then using JTAG to partition and erase and write data to the new flash chip. In the long run a USB drive is a lot less painful. 16GB USB flash drives are all of US$10.
