I have a Linksys E4200 wireless network set up in my house. I have a shop located approximately 50 feet away from the house. The house has masonry walls, and the shop is a frame building with siding. The house is two-story with the router located on the second floor. Both buildings have metal roofs. My problem is that I lose my wireless signal about half way between the house and the shop. I have tried moving the wireless router around in the house and I still cannot receive a signal in the shop. Unfortunately, I have no easy way to get a hardwire connection between the house and the shop. Is there anyway to extend the range to my shop from the E4200?

Which band is your E4200 operating and your receiver in your shop working on? The 5 Ghz band has shorter range then the 2.4 Ghz band. I can pick up my E4200 on the 2.4 Ghz band with my cellular telephone at fifty feet and use its signal. Are you using 802.11N? What is your receiver in the shop? Can you move your E4200 to a window facing the shop and see if it improves the signal?
