    Ok so heres my idea:

I get piss poor cell reception in my basement, where I am 90% of the time. I was wondering if it'd be possible to turn an old WRT54G v2 into a repeater. I'm not the most knowing when it comes to altering bands for sending and receiving, so I'm just throwing the idea out there.

Is it possible to lower the Mhz that WRT54G's send/receive? To either 1900Mhz or 800Mhz? Then maybe write a firmware that will grab the waves from cell towers using one antenna, and then relay them to the base and back out the other antenna?

If so that'd be an amazing use for an old WRT54G that some people have just laying around, like me.

Yeah I just read that these routers pump out ISM waves instead of GSM, which cell phones use. I'm not sure if it'd be possible to change the type of waves that the device pumps out without modifying the board. Which is kind of a bummer, but I'm going to keep looking.
