I have a couple of questions to ask. Since there are many versions of the WRT54g are any of the new routers not hack able? Since they have new firmware that has fixed the whole can you just downgrade the firmware to the version with the hole? Or do you just load one of Sveasoft's firmware version right on there? Is there any version that is best for hacking? I want to do the power up grade and put a patch panel on my router.
    Thanks for the help,

You can install custom (hacked) firmware on all WRT54G routers (V1.0 V1.1 and V2.0), there's no need for a security hole.

You will probably only find V2.0 wrt54g routers now, I think they are the best because they have a faster processor (V2.0 has 200Mhz processor, V1.0 & V1.1 have only 125Mhz processor).

So if there is no need for a security hole then how did the hacking begin? How did people start writing there own firmware versions for the routers?
    Thanks for your help,

Linksys allowed the source code to be downloaded due to the src being in under GPL license
