I used to have wap54g (linksys original firmware 2.07) and it working well to be connected with wet11 (ver 2) about 500meters distance from my house.Due to my wap54g was hit by thunderclap, i started to bought new wap54g (firmware 2.08 ETSI).Trouble comming then.

wet11 is unable to be connected with wap54g (but my second wet11 is able, distance about 50meters).Then i tried to downgrade the firmware to ver 2.07 (linksys original), but it seems not make any sense.

So i started to think that the problem is in output power.I looking a way to increase the output power.I'm still uncertain to make an upgrade to mustdie.

anyone have any suggesstion to make it happen (increase the output power)?

the wap54g is connected to an 8db omni antenna

wrt54g is different than wap54g so i think you will get different range from different hardware. i think since you have a good antenna you should upgrade to different firmware and up the power to get more range.
try a directional antenna because omni means all and that means all of your neighbors can get into your traffic and you do not want this.

i'm not using wrt54g, im using wap54g.Im use it so share my internet connection to neighbours.

my question is how increase the output power of wap54g? since i used to able reach wider coverage with my old wap54g.

is it safe to make an upgrade to mustdie firmware? and why i should make a hardreset after upgrade the firmware, how if i'm not do that?

    thx for reply
