I just got my new Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 from Amazon. I am struggling with the instructions a little and hope someone can help me.

I have plugged the router directly into a spare network connection on my computer. I have downloaded the firmware and extracted it to a folder on my Desktop.

I run the whr_install.bat which is says to do but I get the error.

Am I missing a step or something?

Try holding down the reset button for 30sec.
Make sure the cat cable is plugged in to a LAN port not the WAN (internet) port.
Did you manually set the ip address in your pc?

Did you plug into the WAN port by mistake? Try putting a hub or switch in between to hold up the link status.

I tried port 1 and it wouldn't work then switched to port 4 and it worked right away.
