I just bought a wrt54gs v1.0 to bridge with my existing wrt54g v2.2 and wanted to ask if there are any noticable differences between GS models? I should have checked before buying, but this was an impulse buy.

Are there any compelling reasons to take this back and get a newer version?

From the front page: Autopsies (see whats inside)--> WRT54G/GS

No compelling reason to hunt down the latest in my opinion. (Especially since the very latest often aren't suppored by all the custom firmware projects.)

Interesting they say no serial ports for the wrt54g v1.0 when you can clearly see the com port headers in the picture. Looks like it might be missing a chip for converting from ttl to serial voltages though.

There's no UART chip on the v1.x according to the TableOfHardware at OpenWRT.org.

Thanks for the replies! I guess I'll keep this one and void my warranty now by installing talisman... :thumb:
