Just switched to HyperWRT (tofu11 or Thibor)???

I've recently switched to another bittorrent client (uTorrent) and on their FAQ page I noticed there were problems with Linksys routers keeping connections alive for 5 days.

    uTorrent FAQ

I thought this may apply to me as I was having similar problems. At times the Router (WRT54G v2) wasn't handing out IP addresses anymore (wireless & LAN). I would have to close my torrent client for my other workstations to get IP addresses again. But browsing the I-net would still be sluggish. Only after I cycle power to the router would it be back to normal.

So I updated the Firmware to HyperWRT 2.1b1. The upgrade went flawless and I'm very satisfied with HyperWRT, although I was hoping for Static DHCP. However, I'm unsure about one thing...

Is "HyperWRT2.1b1 tofu11 or Thibor" different from the regular HyperWRT2.1b1 which I downloaded from HyperWRT.org

If i were to run the script
    echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/icmp_echo_ignore_broadcasts
    echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/icmp_ignore_bogus_error_responses
    echo "600 1800 120 60 120 120 10 60 30 120" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_conntrack_tcp_timeouts
would it work for me with my "regular" HyperWRT2.1b1?

If not, and I need to upgrade to tofu11 or Thibor, which would you suggest? I read here in this forum that people are having troubles with Tofu 11 and DHCP Renew

Thank you for your help / suggestions.

    With kind regards,

the Tofu or Thibor fw's are virtually identical, except that they are for differing devices, Tofu is for G and mine is for GS. Hyperwrt2.1b1 is fine for running your script, but StaticDHCP isn't available in it; for that you will need either mine of tofu's, which also has the timeout issue resolved in it.

Thank you very much for taking the time to respond Thibor.

Just for the record, the script isn't mine, but taken directly from the uTorrent.com website's FAQ. I don't want to claim somebody else's work.

For me, the most important thing is that the script will run on my router, so I don't get locked out of my network as explained in my earlier post.

Out of curiosity, what "timeout" issue is resolved in your or Tofu's firmware? The bittorrent issue I have? So I won't need the script with your firmware?

Sorry for my high n00b factor. :(

ip_conntrack_tcp_timeouts established value is set to 432000 by default which is 5 days, in the latest hyperwrt(mine and tofu's) it's set to a lower value by default. i don't know what tofu's is set to but in mine it's 10 minutes, but can be changed in the web interface

    Thanks Thibor.

Me having a G model, I took the plunge into tofu11's firmware and it appears to be working like a charm so far.

Downloading with bittorrent full speed. Quite a few connections open all day long. So far my other workstations are getting IPs and accessing the internet fine.

Very interesting board here. :) So many gadgets for my router. Thanks for taking the time to help me, Thibor. Its much appreciated. I salute you. :)
