Needless to say I want to keep running HyperWRT (v1.4 in my case), but I'm wondering if I can install one of the KAI modeule options (as an addon or something?) in this sentence:

    (copied from http://www.xbox-scene.com/index.php?newsview=1#newsitemEEpkVyklAEzyfNmCBJ )

"For those of you who are using openWRT / some other WRT firmware - you can still use this release fully :) You have the choice of ipkg (file 1 below), straight tar.bz2 (file 2), or 2 individual files (files 3 & 4) for you to wget."

Thanks for the link. Will try this myself soon as it looks very interesting :)

Don't have time to test this now at the moment, but if you install 2.0b3, you'll have telnet access (great for debugging if something goes wrong), and you can use 'wget' to get the files in the /tmp dir. You will probably also have to make a hole in the firewall to let this service go out (using iptables), or just disable the firewall (in the web interface) for testing.

Well, that's nice, but we don't have the control of the KAI daemon by webpage like in the kaistation.bin modiffied firmware.
Could it be possible for you to integrate it in the latest HyperWRT version like the guys at teamxlink did for the kaistation ?

    It would be awesome \:D/

HyperWRT is the best firmware out there, I would love to keep it running on my WRT along with the KAI engine fully integrated.

    Time to bump this.

No need to bump -- especially if it's on the same web page. Not even sure why you're bumping since the HyperWRT author already responded to this thread.

Sorry - I found this thread by using Search and didn't notice that it was on the same page. I also noticed after the fact that PifGadget posted on the Kai forums about it (in the "Other Firmware" forum at the top).

What are the Kai modules for? What kind of new features do you get?

So what's involved in compiling the source into a .bin file? Is this something anyone can do or is it a PITA?

I only ask because the source files are all out there and it seems like it should be fairly simple to take the existing HyperWRT source, add the two KAI files, compile, and reflash. Right? I would think I could even 'borrow' the web page out of the kaistation source and put a link to it from the advanced menu to gain a bit of control over things. If I'm oversimplifying things please let me know and I'll just be patient and wait with everyone else. :D

Kai Xlink is a tunneling program for various gaming consoles; it lets you play for free. Kai has the option of running the engine and the UI on different devices. In this case, the Kai engine can run in a WRT router, and the UI run in Windows, Linux, or in the Dashboard of a modified XBox.

is that works if yes, message me, i will publish the firmware

Its not that simple. The kaiStation is more than just an existing firmware with only the 2 files in it. It's a bit more elaborated. The kai engine can be configured and started/stopped directly from the WRT web UI which requires a bit of scripting and asp programming.
This is remarquably done in kaiStation firmware.

As KAI guys don't publish their source files it would make sense that they would be the ones to do the same for the HyperWRT firmware since its sources are public.
They would just need to rebuild the firmware with their mods, but apparently, according to what Prestige said on their own forums, it's not in their priorities.
I had hoped that Avenger20 could convince them but I have no news of any other development from either part, so Let's hope guys ;)

There is an interesting Python plugin called wrtcommander which was made for XBMC to control all aspects of the kaid program on the Linksys router. I think it's compatible with OpenWRT and HyperWRT which you define along with the ip address of the router etc in a config file.

It can download fresh copies of the files, modify kaid.conf to your Xbox MAC address and save the files locally, then it connects to the WRT and executes wget to pull the saved files from the Xbox. It can also start or stop it.

With this script you don't have to do anything to the router at all, the script will install and manage kaid for you.

If anybody is interested I'll attach...

Have someone try the dd-wrt (www.dd-wrt.com) it have Kaid-support?
I don't now if it works with the WRTKaidCommander.

This seems to be an Alchemy ROM, so I guess, it should work with that ROM, too. WKC works (AFAIK) with Alchemy and HyerWRT.
If it doesn't work, tell me, what problem occured, I will add support for that ROM, too.
