First i would suggest (since there are numerous topics about all aspects of linksys products) to create a category of best practices on how to secure your wired/wireless linksys network.

Having said that, and stating that i am fairly new to these topics, i would like to ask if port stealthing is enabled by default on linksys products (Specificaly for the WAG54G).

Do the following actions insure a tight wireless network or should i take other actions?

    1) Changing admin user name & pass
    2) Changing the default SSID
    3) Enabling WEP Security (Is the legnth of the key really important? Should i go for an auto generated or type in smt i can remember)

Also is there an easy way (Maybe a script or executable) that can be run on the computer that has the router to set the wireless portion to disabled without login on the local IP via the browser?

the best practices for securing any network is to not run anything that you dont need to run (file and printer sharing etc) and as for the wag run wep and change the ssid (maybe dont even broadcast it) any one who wants to hack your wep will hack yout wep so the best thing to do is secure the individual machines and who cared if they surf your web.

there are about 10 unsecured wlans for every one secured. so most wardrivers/hackers will just move on.
