I am running Linksys WRTSL54GS on Tomato Firmware v1.27.8747 ND USB.

My setup and purpose is as follows :

I have been using EG-M34A Network Media Tank connected via wired LAN to Linksys WRSL54GS

On the same network I also had a NAS device Western Digital 500GB Mybook World edition (Model No : WD5000G032) which was the central storage for all media (audio/video). The NAS device harddisk was visible to Egreat via usual Samba (SMB) network shares. I was able to connect, browse and play the media files from the NAS device to my connected LCD TV.

Now the WD NAS enclosure has died due to a faulty PCB. I extracted the harddisk from the NAS and plugged it in a normal USB harddisk enclosure and attached it to the USB port of the Linksys router. Via the web interface of Linksys , i shared this USB device again as the Samba share.

The workgroup name on all the devices on my home network is the same. It is "HOME". Now when I browse through the menu of EG-M34A NMT, it can see the network shares (SMB) on the Linksys router. It can browse to the drive (volume/share name as give). But when I click on the shared drive name to see the directories and files inside the share, it gives me a message of "Workgroup name not found" . This strange because the workgroup name has not been changed and basically all the setup is intact.

I did read some threads about this issue, without anything concrete to be done as a solution. In the tomato web interface of Linksys it is also designated as the "Master Browser" for the samba network shares. The drives are visible when browsing the network via Egreat interace however I cannot go inside the shared drives names/icons to play the video/audio.

Has anyone else encountered this problem in a similar setup (where linksys/tomato is the heart of the network) when streaming files via the network attached devices and any possible solutions which can be applied.

    Your responses would be appreciated.

Have you set the Workgroup on Tomato to HOME as well? When you do share browsing from a Windows machine, what workgroup does the router show up in?

Yes I have set the workgroup name in USB & NAS --> File Sharing screen as the same as on the other devices on the network. It is simply 'HOME'. When I browse from a Windows 7 machine, all devices in the very same workgroup automatically show up and I can browse the shared folder (samba shares) on the Linksys USB devices easily.

In the same USB & NAS --> File Sharing screen i have also put a check mark in Master Browser and WINS Server, and I also have made sure it is the only master browser on the network, well as far as I know. Unless windows 7 ultimate 32-bit announces itself as the master browser by default. But even then I am unable to troubleshoot, since the NMT is able to browser the Samba shares on the Western Digital Mybook World NAS devices (running stick firmware).
