I have a question, which would work better? I have a working VPN running on a WinXP Pro service pack 2 machine and it seems really sluggish when I connect to it. I even tried going right outside the router and its really sluggish. I also want to move the VPN duties to a linksys box instead of having a dedicated machine. so, which setup would run the most efficient?

    #1) WRT54G w/ firmware?
    #2) WRT54GS w/ Firmware?
    #3) WinXP Pro VPN w/ Linksys BEFW11S4 V4?

I have 660Kbit/s up and 2.5Mbit/s down, so I have a decent connection, but I even tried going right through the router and it was still sluggish. Does the router not like having a VPN running on the inside network, or is it just that PPTP VPN is not efficient for speed?

I am new to the VPN thing, but I have been doing networking and computer builing for several years, so you can use the "techno talk" and I should understand all of it.

BTW, does anyone know of good SecureFTP software to use that won't break the bank? I only need to connect a maximum of 5 clients at any given time.
