Does the Wireless Network Permit Only Computers..... function work on the WAG354G router?

I have tried to switch this on with both encryption off and on and all that happens when I select the permit access option is that it kills the wireless link to the laptop, even though the laptop MAC address is clearly in the list.

    I am using a Linksys WPC54G v5 laptop card and v1.01.05 firmware.

    Any ideas?

    Hello JayDub
Are you certain knowing you have the MACadress of the Linksys WPC54G v5 laptop card (maybe you are using the MACadress of the wired connection).
You can check this with the command IPCONFIG /ALL (if you using XP), execute this command in a DOSbox.

I was fairly certain I had it right because the router had picked up the MAC address automatically and it matched what is written on the underside of the card.

I have also tried entering the address manually.

I have also done the ipconfig /all as you suggested and this also returns the same address as well.

Think I may have to call Linksys.

I can confirm it works fine for me.

I had the same symptoms as you, was driving me nuts. I would enter the mac address, close the window and the mac had gone again and the laptop wouldn't connect. By accident i put the mac address in again and scrolled down on my mouse wheel and hidden away was an "apply changes" button. Did that and it sprung into life.

    Hope this helps.

Just tried it again and it's worked this time, although I'm not aware I did anything different!

I don't know whether I was being impatient before. This time the signal cut off to the laptop and took about a minute to come back.

    Anyway it works now.

    Thanks for your help.
