    I bricked my Linksys WAG54G V2 while uploading new firmware. I brought it back to the computer shop and the shop sent it to their provider. I live in Thailand by the way. After 4 weeks the computershop gave me a Linksys WAG54G V3. It's not in a box and there is no charger. That doesn't matter because I have one. The WAG54G V3 looks like a WAG354G but it came with SMA antenna and the top panel has a fixed hole for the antenna. So not a tab that can be pused away as with the WAG354G. On the internet I can't find any information about this type. It works on firmware v1.00.21.

    Can somebody enlighten me about my new modem.

    Thanks, Petch01

    Thank you very much for your quick reply, HiSpeed, but it isn't the WAG200G. The case and antenna mount is the same but the lights at the frontside have a different order. Power, 4 x LAN, Wireless, DSL and Internet. Also at the front is a power button. The name is "Wireless-G ADSL Modem" printed at the front side in the centre. At the bottom and in the firmware the name WAG54G V.3 is written. The firmware has more features than the WAG54G V.2 but hasn't WPA2.

    Do I have the cancelled successor of the WAG54G V.2 and the predessessor of the WAG200G?

    Still very curious.

    You're right, it's a new WAG 54G because :
    CF62xxxxxxxx -> WAG 54G v2
    SIY0xxxxxxxx -> WAG 54GS v1
    SN60xxxxxxxx -> WAG 200G v1
    CIW0xxxxxxxx -> WAG 354G v1

    The question is now : what is CF63xxxxxxxx and CF64xxxxxxxx ????????????

    Help Required

    I have a choice between

    First of all I don't know which one is the newer model.
    My usage would be to share ADSL internet connection and setup a wireless network at home.

    House structure is double story and all double brick walls (as we have it in Pakistan) so signal strength is a critical issue. I would be placing the box on the 2nd floor.

    2. I don't know the version number of WAG 54G. I saw a few posts referring to v2, v3 ... Is that firmware versions or physical model is different and whats the difference between them. I am not sure of the version number available in the local store as it does not say anything on the packing box.

    I would really appreciate a quick response as I need to buy this today!

    I wished I could help you with a real objective opinion.

    I have a WAG54V3 which is physically different from the V1 and V2. I yet don't what's inside the V3. There's no information available on the internet.

    The WAG354G is available in most countries and has already build up a reputation. Search around on this forum.

    The WAG200G is new and published on as far I know on the European-sites only. I downloaded the user manual and it seems technically similar as the WAG54GV3.

    As the WAG54GV3, according to posters on several boards, seems to be a replacement for a failing WAG54V1 or V2 and information on the net isn't available I would go for a WAG200.

    Living in Pakistan

    thanx for the reply.
    WAG200G seems to be my choice too!
    The price for WAG 354G and WAG200G is the same in Pakistan from 2 different vendors. however I have just come accross WAG54GX2 which supports MIMO and promises better signal strength specially accross walls and slightly expensive then the other models.

    But Alas that is not available here in Pakistan (as far as I know)

    One more question that I have is that what is essentailly the difference between having two different devices (ADSL modem + AP/router) and all in one device.
    The company I'm getting the DSL connection is giving speed touch (thompson) DSL modems and I already have a Linksys AP (802.11b which i wanted to upgrade to g). Are there any potential or reported issue having two different devices?

    If you have an ethernet modem, the best choice is to buy a WRT 54GL because you can use DD-WRT firmware which is the best firmware of the world !
