I recently installed dd-wrt micro generic on my wrt54gs v6 with this tutorial http://www.bitsum.com/openwiking/owbase/ow.asp?WRT54G5_CFE

Everything went fine, it all worked... then after a while of playing with the settings on the management page i realised it wasent working properly. The first thing i noticed was that when i set up a access restriction (ex removing internet from 1 comp on lan) it works, but then stops working as if i never did anything after about 10seconds. Then i noticed that the same thing happens with the wireless xmit strength. I set it to 60, my laptop gets exellent signal strengh then, in about 10 seconds it goes back to decent signal strengh as if i never changed anything.

Help would be Greatly Apreciated, thx

I acually used that guide to install dd-wrt. But they seem to have removed the reverting section for the wrt54gs's

"Since I do not have a WRT54GS to test with, I am suspending releasing any new tools firmwares for this device since."

As of today you can use all 16MB of your GS's RAM, so this may help performance considerably (in fact, it should perform as good as any previous version running the same firmware).

I've not had any troubles with DD-WRT, and the newer V23 SP2 beta micro builds are much better. Still, stability seems a question of which daily build you happen to get since it isn't final yet.

I did remove the GS reversion because I need a new VxWorks BSP image from these devices. You can use the G reversion procedure but your unit will then think its a G and accept only G firmware. Eventually I will release a proper GS reversion firmware.

    Hi there,

I ran into this problem. And reverted to a WRT54G firmware and got stuck with it. But I want to get my WRT54GS firmware back! I searched everywhere on the net. There seems to be NO solution for this yet.

Out of curiosity, are you planning to get this fixed in the short run? Can I help out in some way?
