Hi all - looking for a bit of help with what is hopefully a minor firmware update...

I recently 'upgraded' from a BEFW11S4 to a WRT54G. The additional bandwidth is great, but I lost a feature that is key for me: the ability to wake a machine on my LAN from the WAN (Internet) since I can no longer forward packets to the broadcast address of the LAN ( in my case).

Of course, I was delighted to see that the firmware for the v4 is GPLed, and I am hoping that someone can help me with a pretty simple question:

If I were to start with the 4.20.7 source tree (ftp://ftp.linksys.com/opensourcecode/wrt54g/4.20.7/WRT54GV4_v4.20.7.tgz)...what exactly would I need to change in order to enable the broadcast forwarding within my LAN?

(I'd rather do this mod myself than install one of the other 3rd party firmwares as I really dont need much more than this. I'd be happy to donate a few bucks for the solution as well.)

iamquerty has an add-on to Tofu 11 that allows this.

Tofu 11 + querty is probably the ideal firmware for you.

Tofu is built based on the factory firmware, staying as close as possible to the core Linksys model while adding many new features (which you can use or ignore to your heart's content).

iamquerty's addition simply adds WoL capabilities to Tofu.

    See this thread:

If nothing else, you might contact iamquerty and see if he might be persuaded to take his code for WoL and integrate it into the Linksys firmware, or you can probably get the code from him and do it yourself. In the thread, iamquerty gives a link to a web page, and on that web page he allows downloads of his source.

All hail iamquerty for his timely solution of your problem, before you even asked! ;)
