More than 5 backup jobs

    Hey all,

I just unslung my NSLU2 to firmware V2.3R63-
uNSLUng-6.8-beta last night. I also unslung onto my external hard
drive - disk 1. So far this all seems to work fine.

My main reason for using the unslung firmware is to allow me to have
more than 5 backup jobs - which seems to be a very stupid limitation of the official Linksys firmware (i have tried the latest beta release as well).

I saw that it is possible to have more than 5 backup jobs on this page using the unslung firmware:

However I have no idea how to add/edit lines to the backup section of
the mentioned files. Basically im asking for some help, step by step instructions or whatever advice anyone has.

Any help would be much appreciated,

I thought that six backup jobs was the limit. The NSLU2 does sometimes "artificially" limit and lock itself to the number of existing back up jobs after a firmware upgrade. To fix this, the unit has to be reset to factory defaults. Note: The Backup and Restore of the configuration settings will not restore the backup jobs if you have reset to factory defaults. You must manually rebuild the jobs from scratch. Printing a copy of each page before the factory reset is a handy way of having a record to do the rebuilding.

If you need more backup jobs than the six limit, there is a work around you can try. Instead of adding a job with the "Add New Job" button, just use the "Modify" of an existing job. Change the "Name" of the existing job to the name of your new job, change the settings as appropriate and when finished click"Modify". A new job will be created beyond the six job limit. I've not tried this before, but it was said to work on the firmwares older than R63.

Many thanks for your help d__l but unfortunately.....

No it seems that 5 backup jobs is the limit. I have done a reset factory defaults several times, tried reflashing the firmware - still a limit of 5.

I have tried your work around, it does not work - well at least with the firmware I am using - V2.3R63.

Such a stupid limit, why do they need to limit backup jobs!
