I have a few WRT54G v3's. I need at least one of them to operate in client-routed mode, since I connect to a WISP. I've tried alchemy and talisman, but, the best I can get is about 3-5 minutes of solid connectivity, and then the rate goes way down, ping times double, and packet loss sets in. If I restart the router, it all goes away for another 3-5 minutes.

I can connect another PC with XP pro and a wg311 wireless nic that I connect to the same exact antenna that points to my WISP, and I have a solid 11mb connection with no packet loss, and 2-3ms ping times approximatly 95% of the time.

What I would love to do is have my xp box, my freebsd box, and another WRT54G in AP mode behind a WRT54G in client mode. I've heard that there are rumors that with the newest version of the linksys firmware, you can enable client mode, but, I have yet to find the option. Any truth to that?

What is the most stable firmware that allows the WRT54G to operate in client mode without dropping all the time?
