    Hello everybody!

I am becoming increasingly desparate and Linksys support doesn't answer my emails and the queue to the telephone support is unending - after more than 30 minutes I was still waiting... so if some kind soul has a clue to what may be wrong, I would be very gratefull...

I have purchased a Linksys WAG54GX2 to replace my Cisco 677 router that I received with my subscription. I am unable to get it to work, although the specs seem to meet the requirements and I have found several accounts of successfully using the WAG54GX2 with Cybercity ADSL. I am very familiar with networking, hardware and concepts, but this one beats me. Whenever I connect the WAG54GX2 the DSL light never comes on - when I connect the Cisco 677 it imediately works. I also have a Speedtouch 510 router that I used when I was living in the UK - it behaves just like the linksys - I can't get it to connect!

    Router firmware v1.00.02

Here's the configuration as I believe it should be:

    Encapsulation: RFC 2364 PPPoA
Multiplexing: VC (this is the setup of my Cisco 677)
    Qos type: UBR
    Autodetect: disable
Virtual Circuit: 0 VPI (this is the setup of my Cisco 677)
Virtual Circuit: 35 VCI (this is the setup of my Cisco 677)
    Username: dsl74521
    Password: **********
Keep Alive: Redial period 20 seconds
    Hostname: dsl74521
    Domain name:
    MTU: Auto

    Sincerely yours,

    Mads Skovbjerg Paldam

PS) Here's some info from the Cisco 677 (which still works):

    cbos#sh ppp

There are 2 types of firmware for this device, annex A and annex B.

one of them (B i think) is mainly for europe as it is for ADSL over ISDN lines.

try to check you have the right firmware type for your line if you are absolutely possitive evrything else is ok.

    Dear Yakumo,

Thank you very much for taking the time to read and reply!

Do you know if annex A and annex B is only a question of firmware - I mean, can I flash my WAG54GX2 with either version? I do not know if mine is one or the other, but on the German Linksys site it says not to flash your router with the wrong version.

    Sincerely yours,

flashing the router with the wrong version can brick it...

just look, somewhere in the sticks should say if it's an Annex B version..
