I need a wireless router that doesn't need rebooted 10 times a day. Any suggestions? I have had two different versions of the WRT54G over the last year. Both had problems. Every where I look and research it seems that all brands Dlink, belkin, etc have disconnect problems.

    Any suggestions?

Cisco 851W or 871W. About $390 and $550 respectively if you shop around.

I second Eric's recommendation, with addition of the Checkpoint safe@office and the Netscreen 5GT wireless. However I have been very impressed with the wrtsl54gs and an older buffalo 54g wireless i own as well.

It's also about the models. For example, you're WRT54G, you never mentioned which version these are. Version 5+ don't have as much RAM and Flash memory so when you start using file sharing programs the iptables fill up causing the router to reboot. If you had older versions of the router, then it could be firmware differences.

My point being, there's no need to spend a fortune to get a stable router. Best is to read a little more about the WRT54G versions you have and see if they can run 3rd party firmware that can increase stability (no guarantees).

Common household devices that can jam your WRT54G:
    1. Wireless ceiling fan controls.
    2. wireless baby monitors.
    3. microwave ovens. There is debate on this one.
    4. some cordless telephones.
    5. wireless video game controls.
    6. anything else using the wifi 2.4 ghz frequency range.

Other issues: How many connections are active on the WRT54G?
How many of these connections are using streaming video?
How many nearby neighbors are on the same wifi channel?
I counted over 100 wireless routers on the same channel
in a nearby hi rise condo. 35 of these didn't even use WEP.

Uhm, how about the new Apple Airport Extreme? Also easily extendable with the Airport Express stations.

I have the WRT54G v1.1 and it's currently sitting on 118days uptime with over 500GB downloaded in that time, this includes heavy torrenting and lots of streaming videos on various video sites like Stage6 and Apple trailers.

I have been on cable BB for those 118days after having a bad experience with ADSL and have not had to reboot a single time yet with no loss of performance or speed.

I have 4 LAN computers connected to this router too with mixed wifi usage.

    I am using Firmware Version: v4.71.1, Hyperwrt 2.1b1 + Thibor15c.

Stable enough for your needs? :p

For a £40 router it's performing like one that costs more than triple the cost!
