I would like to add a new Windows XP computer to my Linksys WRT54G router...not wireless at this point. Never done this kind of thing before and could use some directions or a guide or tutorial.
I already have a Windows 2000 computer connected to it. And a cable modem.

Just set your NIC to get IP address automatically and plug it into a LAN port.

Should be plug and play if defaults are in place

As mentioned above, if the router and XP install are at their default settings, things should work fine if the PC NIC is simply plugged into the router using a normal LAN jumper cable. That is, the router is set up as a DHCP server and the PC Network Card is set up to "Obtain an IP address automatically".

OK, I'll be trying it in a few days. I have an on board LAN. Mobo is MSI K8N Neo4 Ultra.
